Himanta Biswa Sarma becomes interim BAI president
BJP leader and Assam Badminton Association President Himanta Biswa Sarma was appointed Badminton Association of India’s interim head during its executive council meeting.
The post of president was left vacant after the sudden demise of former president Akhilesh Das Gupta and within a few days, Sarma emerged as the front-runner to become the interim head after he got support from the senior members of the association.

भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता और असम बैडमिंटन संघ के अध्यक्ष हिमांता बिस्वा शर्मा को भारतीय बैडमिंटन संघ :बीएआई: की कार्यकारी परिषद की बैठक के दौरान संघ का अंतरिम अध्यक्ष चुना गया।
पूर्व अध्यक्ष अखिलेश दास गुप्ता के अचानक निधन के बाद यह पद खाली हुआ था और कुछ दिन में ही शर्मा संघ के वरिष्ठ सदस्यों के सहयोग से अंतरिम प्रमुख के प्रबल दावेदार के रूप में उभरे।

Bopanna-Cuevas win Monte Carlo Masters
Rohan Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas lifted the men’s doubles crown at the Monte Carlo Masters after registering a hard-fought three-set win over Spain’s Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez.
The unseeded pair played out of its skin to get the better of its opponents 6-3 3-6 10-4 in the summit-clash of the €4,273,775 clay court tournament, the match lasting an hour and 14 minutes at the Monte Carlo Country Club.

Indian-American named dean of Kansas college
An Indian-American theoretical physicist with interests in soft matter and statistical physics has been named the dean of a top college in the US state of Kansas.
Amit Chakrabarti’s appointment as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences by the Kansas State University was announced on April 14 after a national search.
भारतीय अमेरिकी बने कंसास कालेज के डीन
एक भारतीय अमेरिकी सैद्वांतिक भौतिक विज्ञानी को अमेरिकी कंसास प्रांत के एक शीर्ष कालेज का डीन नियुक्त किया गया है। उनकी सांख्यिकी भौतिक विज्ञान में रूचि है।
कंसास राज्य विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा अमित चक्रवर्ती को कला एवं विज्ञान कालेज का डीन नियुक्त किया गया। इसकी घोषणा राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर खोजबीन के बाद 14 अप्रैल को की गई।

Virendra Sharma, Surinder Arora win Pride of Punjab awards
NRIs Virendra Sharma, Labour MP from Ealing and Southall, and Surinder Arora, founder chairman of the Arora Hotels, have won'Pride of Punjab Award' 2017for their outstanding contribution to the communities in the UK.
Britain's Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid MP, presented the awards to them at the annual dinner of the Punjabi society of the British Isles.
