1. Djokovic wins third US Open, equals Sampras on 14 Grand Slams
Novak Djokovic clinched his third US Open title with a 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 triumph over Juan Martin del Potro, taking him level with Pete Sampras's mark of 14 Grand Slams.
Djokovic, playing in his eighth final in New York and already the champion in 2011 and 2015, is now just three Slams behind Rafael Nadal and six back from the record 20 held by Roger Federer.

आठवीं बार अमेरिकी ओपन फाइनल खेलने वाले जोकोविच ने 6 . 3, 7 . 65, 6 . 3 से जीत दर्ज की । वह 2011 और 2015 में भी यहां खिताब जीत चुके हैं और अब ग्रैंडस्लैम खिताब के मामले में रफेल नडाल से तीन और रोजर फेडरर से छह खिताब पीछे हैं ।
2. Aishwarya Rai receives Women in Film India's Meryl Streep Award for Excellence
Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been honoured with the Meryl Streep Award for Excellence at the Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Awards.
The 44-year-old actor was felicitated with the Meryl Streep Award for Excellence, which has been established to honour the best female talent in Bollywood and Hollywood.

बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री ऐश्वर्या राय बच्चन को वीमन इन फिल्म एंड टेलीविजन (डब्ल्यूआईएफटी) इंडिया अवार्ड्स में मेरिल स्ट्रीप अवार्ड फॉर एक्सीलेंस अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया।
अभिनेत्री को मेरिल स्ट्रीप अवार्ड फॉर एक्सीलेंस दिया गया। इस पुरस्कार का गठन बॉलीवुड और हॉलीवुड में श्रेष्ठ महिला प्रतिभा को सम्मानित करने के लिये किया गया है।
3. Verma, Rankireddy-Shetty win Hyderabad Open badminton titles
India's Sameer Verma and the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lived up to the top billing by clinching the men's singles and doubles titles respectively at the Hyderabad Open badminton tournament.

भारत के समीर वर्मा तथा सत्विकसाईराज रंकीरेंड्डी व चिराग शेट्टी की जोड़ी ने अपनी वरीयता के अनुरूप प्रदर्शन करते हुए हैदराबाद ओपन बैडमिंटन टूर्नामेंट में क्रमश: पुरूष एकल और युगल खिताब अपने नाम किये।
4. Veteran Tamil film actor Kovai Senthil passes away
Veteran Tamil film actor Kumarasamy, popularly known as Kovai Senthil, died. He was 74.
He made his debut in director K Bhagyaraj's Oru Kai Osai in 1980 and acted in more than 200 films including superstar Rajinikanth's hit venture Padaiyappa (1999).
तमिल अभिनेता कुमारसामी का निधन
कोवाइ सेंथिल के नाम से मशहूर दिग्गज तमिल अभिनेता कुमारसामी का निधन हो गया। वह 74 वर्ष के थे।
उन्होंने अपने फिल्मी करियर की शुरुआत निर्देशक के. भाग्यराज की फिल्म 'ओरू कई ओसई' से 1980 में की तथा रजनीकांत की फिल्म ‘पदाईयप्पा’ सहित 200 से ज्यादा फिल्मों में काम किया।
5. Arif Alvi Sworn in as Pakistan's New President
Arif Alvi, a close ally of Prime Minister Imran Khan and one of the founding members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was sworn in as Pakistan's new president.

6. Arpinder scripts history
Triple jumper Arpinder Singh created history by becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the IAAF Continental Cup as he clinched the bronze but javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished sixth with a below-par show.
Arpinder, who had won the gold in the Jakarta Asian Games in Jakarta, cleared a modest 16.59m in the first of his three jumps to be in the semifinals. He could only clear 16.33m in his next attempt to miss out on the two-man final. Nonetheless, he collected the bronze.
एथलीट अरपिंदर ने इतिहास रचा
त्रिकूद के एथलीट अरपिंदर सिंह ने आईएएएफ कांटिनेंटल कप में कांस्य पदक जीतकर भारतीय खेलों में नया इतिहास रचा।
अरपिंदर इस टूर्नामेंट में पदक जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय बन गये हैं। जकार्ता एशियाई खेलों में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले अरपिंदर ने अपने पहले प्रयास में 16.59 मीटर कूद लगायी। इसके बाद अगले दो प्रयासों में वह 16.33 मीटर ही कूद लगा पाये और इस तरह से दो एथलीटों के बीच फाइनल कूद में जगह बनाने में नाकाम रहे। यह भारतीय हालांकि कांस्य पदक हासिल करने में सफल रहा।
