1. Indian-American awarded at White House for combating human trafficking
An Indian-American woman has been honoured with a Presidential award by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for her extraordinary contribution towards combating human trafficking in Houston.
Minal Patel Davis, Special Advisor on Human Trafficking to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, received the ‘Presidential Medal for Combating Human Trafficking’ in the White House last week at a ceremony also attended by President Donald Trump.

अमेरिका के विदेश मंत्री माइक पोम्पिओ ने भारतीय मूल की अमेरिकी महिला को ह्यूस्टन में मानव तस्करी से लड़ने में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए राष्ट्रपति पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया है।
ह्यूस्टन के मेयर सिलवेस्टर टर्नर की मानव तस्करी पर विशेष सलाहकर मीनल पटेल डेविस को गत सप्ताह व्हाइट हाउस में एक कार्यक्रम में मानव तस्करी से लड़ने के लिए राष्ट्रपति पदक प्रदान किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप भी मौजूद रहे।
2. Armies of India and Japan to hold first-ever joint exercise from November 1 in Mizoram
Armies of India and Japan will hold their first ever joint exercise from November 1 at a jungle warfare school in Mizoram's Vairengte with a focus on strengthening counter-terror cooperation, officials said.
The focus of the two-week-long exercise 'Dharma Guardian' will be to increase interoperability between the two forces and enhance coordination in dealing with various security challenges, they said.

भारत और जापान की सेनाएं एक नवंबर से मिजोरम के वैरेंगते में एक जंगल में स्थित जंगी स्कूल में पहली बार संयुक्त अभ्यास करेंगी। इस संयुक्त अभ्यास का मकसद आतंकवाद रोधी अभियान को मजबूती देना है।
अधिकारियों ने बताया कि दो हफ्ते चलने वाले अभ्यास ‘ धर्मा गार्जियन’ का फोकस दोनों बलों के बीच अंतरसक्रियता को बढ़ाना और विभिन्न सुरक्षा चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए समन्वय में इजाफा करना है।
3. Worldsteel elects Sajjan Jindal as treasurer; LN Mittal, TV Narendran as members
Global body World Steel Association (worldsteel) has elected JSW Steel CMD Sajjan Jindal as its treasurer.
The association has also appointed Tata Steel MD T V Narendran and ArcelorMittal Chief L N Mittal as its members.

4. Veteran political leader N D Tiwari dies on his 93rd birthday
Congress veteran Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who served in various positions at the Centre and in states, died on his birthday. He was 93.
Tiwari had the unique distinction of having served as the chief minister of two states, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

केन्द्र और राज्यों में विभिन्न पदों पर रहे कांग्रेस के वयोवृद्ध नेता नारायण दत्त तिवारी का निधन हो गया। वह 93 वर्ष के थे।
तिवारी को दो राज्यों उत्तर प्रदेश और उत्तराखंड का मुख्यमंत्री बनने का अद्वितीय गौरव हासिल था।
5. Desi wealthy club adds 7,300, totalling 3.43 lakh worth $6 trillion
Amidst rising concern over the increasing inequality, the country created a whopping 7,300 more millionaires during the 12 months to mid-2018, taking the total number of dollar-millionaires to 3.43 lakh, who are collectively worth around USD 6 trillion, says a report.
According to Credit Suisse, the country is home to one of the highest proportions of female billionaires at 18.6 per cent during the period, among the major countries.
देश में एक साल में 7,300 और जुड़े धनाढ्यों की सूची में, संख्या हुई 3.43 लाख
भारत में अमीर गरीब की खाईं बढ़ने को लेकर बढ़ती चिंताओं के बची जून 2017 से जून 2018 के बीच देश में दस लाख डॉलर या आज की दर पर 7.3 करोड़ रुपए से अधिक की सम्पत्ति वाले धनाढ्यों की संख्या में 7,300 का इजाफा हुआ है।
एक रपट के अनुसार इस वर्ष जून के अंत में भारत में ऐसे धनाढ्यों की संख्या 3.43 लाख तक पहुंच गयी। इनकी कुल सम्पत्ति 6,000 अरब डॉलर के बराबर आंकी गयी है।
वित्तीय सेवा कंपनी क्रेडिट सुसी की ताजा रपट के अनुसार भारत सबसे अधिक महिला अरबपतियों (एक अरब डॉलर यानी 73.5 अरब रुपए से अधिक की सम्पत्ति वाली महिला अमीरों) का देश हैं। समीक्षावधि के दौरान दुनिया की 18.6 प्रतिशत महिला अरबपति भारत में थीं।
