1. Marine biologist Osamu Shimomura, who won Nobel Prize in chemistry, passes away
Japanese-born Marine biologist Osamu Shimomura, who won the Nobel Prize in chemistry, has died. He was 90.
Shimomura and two American scientists shared the 2008 Nobel prize for the discovery and development of a jellyfish protein that later contributed to cancer studies.

जापान में जन्मे समुद्री जीवविज्ञानी और रसायन विज्ञान के नोबेल पुरस्कार से सम्मानित ओसामु शिमोमूरा का निधन हो गया। वह 90 वर्ष के थे।
शिमोमूरा और अमेरिका के दो वैज्ञानिकों ने जेलीफिश प्रोटीन की खोज और उसके विकास के लिए 2008 में संयुक्त रूप से नोबेल पुरस्कार जीता था। उनकी यह खोज बाद में कैंसर के अध्ययनों में मददगार साबित हुई।
