1- Ravi Shastri has been retained as Team India head coach by BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). The 57-year-old Shastri has been contracted till the 2021 T20 World Cup. Shastri was appointed as head coach in 2017 after Anil Kumble and he had earlier served as director from 2014 to 2016.

3- India's flag carrier Air India on Independence Day became the country's first airline to operate a commercial flight over the North Pole. The feat was achieved by Air India flight AI173 from Delhi to San Francisco, which usually flies over the Pacific Ocean to enter the US.

4- Government has constituted a high-powered committee of chief ministers for the transformation of agriculture and raising farmers' income. The nine-member committee, chaired by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, will suggest measures to boost agricultural export, raise growth in food processing, attract investments in modern market infrastructure, value chains and logistics.

5- The ministry of corporate affairs has amended provisions of the Companies Act relating to the issue of shares with differential voting rights (DVRs). It has liberalized rules that would allow Indian companies to raise share capital without diluting the voting rights of all existing shareholders.

8- Indian woman Farrata runner Duti Chand, who created history by winning a gold medal at the World University Games, won the gold medal in the 100 meter event at the fifth Indian Grand Prix.
