Q. 1. If three times the larger of the two numbers is divided by the smaller one, we get 4 as quotient and 3 as remainder, Also, if seven times the smaller number is divided by the larger one, we get 5 as quotient and 1 as remainder. Find the difference of the numbers.

Q. 2. A sum of Rs. 4800 is divided among 8 men, 9 women and 12 boys. If share of one man, one woman and one boy are in the ratio 6: 4: 3, find the share of each boy.

Q. 3. The average age of P and Q is 28 years. The ratio of their ages is 5: 2. What will be the ratio of their ages after 4 years?

Q. 4. In an election between two candidates, 10% of total voters did not take part. The candidate who was elected got 60% of the votes casted. If he got 1080 votes more than his opponent, find the total number of votes. 

दो उम्मीदवारों के मध्य एक चुनाव में 10% मतदाताओं ने भाग नहीं लिया। वह उम्मीदवार जो चुनाव जीतता है, डाले गये मतों का 60% प्राप्त करता है। यदि वह अपने विपक्षी से 1080 मत अधिक प्राप्त करता है, कुल मतों की संख्या ज्ञात कीजिए।

Q. 5. On selling 17 articles at Rs. 720, there is a loss equal to the cost price of 5 articles. The cost price of an article is-

Q. 7. Two trains of length 300 m and 500 m. run on parallel lines. When they run in the same direction it will take 40 seconds to cross each other and when they travel in opposite direction it will take 10 seconds. Then speed of the faster train (in km/hr.) is-

Q. 8. A man can swim 3 kmph in still water. If the velocity of the stream is 2 kmph, the time taken by him to swim to a place 'd' km upstream and back in 12 hours. Find the value of 'd'.

एक व्यक्ति स्थिर जल में 3 किमी./घण्टा की चाल से तैर सकता है। यदि धारा की चाल 2 किमी./घण्टा है, उसके द्वारा 'd' किमी. दूर स्थित एक स्थान तक ऊर्ध्वप्रवाह में जाने और वापस आने में 12 घण्टे लगते हैं । 'd' का मान ज्ञात कीजिए ।

Q. 9. A field is 100 metre long and 60 metre wide. A path of uniform width runs round it on the inside, if the area of the path is 1500 m^2. Find the width of the path.

एक मैदान 100 मीटर लम्बा तथा 60 मीटर चौड़ा है। एक समान चौड़ाई का रास्ता पार्क के अन्दर चारों ओर बनाया गया जिसका क्षेत्रफल 1500 मी^2 है। रास्ते की चौड़ाई ज्ञात कीजिए।

Q. 10. On allowing 20% discount, 12% loss is occurred. How much the marked price is above the cost price?

20% छूट देने पर 12% का नुकसान होता है। अंकित मूल्य क्रय मूल्य से कितने प्रतिशत अधिक है?

(B) 12%

(C) 10%

(D) 8%

Answer Key:

1. Sol. (B) 

Let the larger number be x and smaller number be y. Then / माना बड़ी संख्या x और छोटी संख्या y है तो 

3x = 4y + 3 ------- (1)

and/और 7y = 5x + 1 ------- (2)

From (1) and (2)/ (2) और (2) से

x = 25 and/और y = 18

Required difference / अभीष्ट अन्तर = 25 – 18 

= 7

2. Sol. (A) 

Value of money received by men, women and boys / पुरूषों, महिलाओं और लड़कों द्वारा  

प्राप्त धनराशि = (8 × 6) + (9 × 4) + (12 × 3) = 48 + 36 + 36 = 120 

Share of one boy in Rs.120 = Rs. 3 

120 रू. में एक लड़के का हिस्सा 3 रू. है।
Share of one boy in Rs. 4800/ 4800 रू. में एक लड़के का हिस्सा है =


3. Sol. (A) 

According to the question/प्रश्नानुसार,

k = 8


Required ratio/अभीष्ट अनुपात = (5 × 8 + 4): (2 × 8 + 4)


= 44: 20 = 11: 5


4. Sol. (C) 

Let total number of votes / माना मतों की कुल संख्या = 100x

According to question, / प्रश्नानुसार,

Vote casted/डाले गये वोट = 90x

(60% – 40%) of 90x = 1080





Total number of votes / मतों की कुल संख्या = 100 × 60 = 6000


5. Sol. (B) 

S.P. of 17 articles / 17 वस्तुओं का वि.मू. 

= C.P. of 17 articles/17 वस्तुओं का क्र.मू. – C.P. of 5 / 5 वस्तुओं का वि.मू.

Let width of path = x m

माना रास्ते की चौड़ाई = x मीटर है। 

100 × 60 – (100 – 2x) (60 – 2x) = 1500

– 4x^2 + 320 x – 1500 = 0

x^2 – 80x + 375 = 0

x = 5, 75

x = 5

10. Sol. (C) 

Let C.P./माना क्रय मूल्य = 100 

Then S.P. = 100 – 12 = 88
