CEAT CRICKET AWARDS 2014-15

Ajinkya Rahane was chosen Indian Cricketer of the Year, while Kapil Dev was chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ranji Trophy champion Karnataka’s captain, fast bowling spearhead and inspiration, Vinay Kumar, was named CEAT Domestic Cricketer of the Year for 2014-15 at a function on May, 25.

Receiving the prize from former India captain Nari Contractor, Vinay said: “Karnataka is dominant across different formats in first-class cricket because whenever there is a crisis situation, someone in the side puts his hand up to take responsibility for team performance.”

Test batsman Ajinkya Rahane was chosen Indian Cricketer of the Year, while Kapil Dev was chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara was named the International Cricketer of the Year.

Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma, who was given a Special Award for his record-breaking 264 against Sri Lanka in an one-dayer at Kolkata, said about the knock “I had come back into the game after a gap of three months and just went out to bat with an open mind, not thinking about anything.” 

The annual awards honours players for performances in international and domestic cricket across all formats. Sunil Gavaskar is Chief Adjudicator of CEAT Cricket Rating, which identifies achievers based on points accumulated in various categories.

The RPG Group chairman, Harsh Goenka, announced the launch of cricket gear and named Aussie pacer Brett Lee as the brand ambassador.

Lifetime Achievement Award : Kapil Dev

India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev was conferred the lifetime achievement award. The Indian legend received a standing ovation as he walked up to the stage to collect the award.

International Cricketer of the Year : Kumar Sangakkara

Sri Lanka cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara, who had a fabulous 2014-15 in all forms of the game, was named the CEAT International Cricketer of the Year. Sangakkara, who retired from ODI and T20I cricket, won the award for the first time and became the fourth player from his country after Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardene to win the award.

T20 Player of the Year : Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo bagged the CEAT T20 Player of the Year award.

Young Cricketer of the Year : Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda, who took IPL 2015 by storm with his sizzling performances with the bat for Rajasthan Royals, is named the Young Cricketer of the Year. Sanjay Bangar, assistant coach on the Indian cricket team and head coach of KXIP, gives away the award.

Batsman and Bowler of the Year : Hashim Amla and Rangana Herath

South Africa batsman Hashim Amla was named the CEAT Batsman of the Year while Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Rangana Herath bagged the CEAT Bowler of the Year award.

CEAT International Indian Cricketer of the year : Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinjya Rahane, who performed well in all forms of the game, both at home and overseas, is presented the CEAT International Indian Cricketer of the Year award by Sunil Gavaskar.

Rohit Sharma bagged the Special Performance of the Year awards for his splendid knockof 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 13th November 2014.

Most popular athlete : Kieron Pollard

The most popular athlete, based on fan votes, went to West Indian allrounder Kieron Pollard, who played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians' success this season.

Domestic player of the year : Vinay Kumar

Vinay Kumar, who was the first to lead Karnataka to back-to-back Ranji titles, is the domestic player of the year. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2014-15 edition of Ranji Trophy.
