Hello Bankers Guru,
I am M. Sravanthi from Hyderabad and is currently working at Andhra Pradesh Grameen Vikas Bank in Bhuvanagiri, Telangana.
After my graduation, I decided to take up a government job. So looking at the market trend and the various perks provided by a bank job I chose to take the exam. IBPS is the most preferred exam by anyone who wants to take up a government bank job so I went with it.
The common written exam was an online exam, so I had to take coaching at Mahendra's Institute for it. There are many available, but we have to choose according to the time schedule and quality. Coming to preparation, I spent my maximum time on reasoning section as I thought it was the more scoring part. For students who come from English medium schools and colleges, The English language section may not pose a problem, but for people from vernacular mediums need to stress about it.
Well, for the current affairs section. I went with magazines (Master In Current Affairs) available in the market rather than going through the newspaper because it can be a huge task. But if you have time, then going through the business section of the newspaper every day will give you an edge over other candidates. For computer science section I went with the coaching material. They are enough, I suppose.
Keeping in view the huge competition, it is a practice which will give you the assurance that you can make it. There are many websites and coaching centers, which provide online mock test series. I went with Mahendra's Speed Test attempting all the test papers.
After the CWE, the list of short listed candidates was placed on the website. The cut off was around 110. I got 149. I was asked to apply for the interview and I did accordingly. I was given the date and center of my interview.
My Interview was very normal. They asked me questions related to basic banking and my background. They asked some questions regarding my native place and that’s all.
I waited for a month. The list of selected candidates was placed on the site. My name was on it. But no bank or grade was allotted to us. We were told about a bank induction program.
At the end of the training. According to the bank preference order given by you and also your marks, you will be placed in a certain bank. Various banks have different cut-off marks so it depends on both the cut off marks and also your personal bank preference order. For me, I gave my preference as Bhuvanagiri, It is my hometown. Eventually they placed me in the Andhra Pradesh Grameen Vikas Bank of Bhuvanagiri.
All the best to all future aspirants. Remember that it is not a tough exam and you can do it. It's important " To Succeed In Life, You Need Two Things: Ignorance and Confidence".
At last I am very Thankful to Bankers Guru Team and E-Mahendras who really helped me to achieve my Goal. Bankers Guru is very useful Platform for banking aspirants.
