Reporting time was 1 pm, we reached at 12.30 and entry was allowed at 1 pm.
Biometric and document verification started (which took quite a lot of time). We were also offered some snacks and tea. Interview started at around 3.30 pm ; I was 8th no. and my turn came at around 4.50 pm. Bell rang and I entered. Wished them good evening.
M2: so vikas you are an electrical engineer?
Me: Yes sir
M2: which college
Me: answered
F: College me campus recruitment nahi hua?
Me: no mam
M2: where did u completed your schooling?
Me: sir my entire schooling and college was in surat only
M1 : so what have you prepared for interview?
Me: sir basics of my graduation and banking
M1 : so tell me what is difference between cheque and DD?
Me: was able to recall only 2-3 points . they asked anything else I said no sir(looked satisfied)
M1: while giving a cheque which important things should be kept in mind?
Me: sir date, payee name , signature, if account payee cheque then double cross at the corner.
M1: anything else?
Me: no sir that’s all
F : main thing toh apne bataya hi nahi.
Me: I was paused for a second then I recalled(with smile), yes sir the AMOUNT. Then M1 explained that the amount in figures and words should match . I said yes sir.
M1: validity of cheque?
Me: answered
M1: so tell me through which services we can avail banking facilities without going to a bank ?
Me: sir net banking mobile banking
M1: one more thing is there
Me: (cant recall) said sorry sir
M1: he said main thing toh aap bhool hi ja rahe ho. Main work in bank is cash deposit and withdrawal that we can do from ATM.
Me: yes sir we can do that but I thought you were asking about services we can avail without going anywhere.
M1: so can we deposit cash in an ATM?
Me: yes sir
M1: any other facilities?
Me: (unable to recall) sorry sir
F: so y do u want to join banking why not engineering?
Me: answered
F: but there are so many companies and MNCs ?
Me: explained (cant say whether she was satisfied or not)
In the meanwhile M2 entered the room which distracted me(bad thing)
M2: bank in your pocket is which bank’s motto?
Me: sorry sir
M2: yaad nahi aa raha? Ok tell me iska matlab kya hoga?
Me: sir it is referring to mobile banking.
M2: who is the fianance minister of Gujarat?
Me: answered
Passed on to M3
M3: so tell me what are these schemes the govt. is launching for public ?
Me: answered
M3: any examples?
Me: sir jan dhan yojna is the best example
M3: any other?
Me: sir MUDRA, Stand up india for minority and (looking at madam) women empowerment.
M3: aap k jaise young engineers k ly koi nayi scheme ?
Me: yes sir start up india.
M3: explain ?
Me: answered
M2: so vikas aap ko nahi lagta k aap k jaisa engineer banking me ayega toh country ka loss hoga?
Me: no sir (with a smile)
M2: lekin agar aap k jaisa talented engineer bank me kaam karega toh desh ka loss hoga jis k liye desh hame kabhi maaf nahi karega.
Everyone laughed including me.

And then I left the room.
Interview was in both English and hindi(mainly hindi). No introduction no personal background. Panel was very supportive. But interview seemed very casual. Cant say on what basis they are judging candidates. Interview took 10-12 minutes. Let’s hope for the best.
