Smart Strategies For 2016 Bank PO Exam

The banking sector is one of the most popular and lucrative career options among young aspirants. The job opportunity in the Banking sector is growing exponentially in last few years due to issuance of new licences and efforts being made by the RBI and the Government to expand financial services into rural areas. Many of Public Sector banks would need to hire fresh talent in the wake of nearly half of their workforce is expected to retire in the next few years.

The recruitment of Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee exam is mainly conducted by two major bank test conducting agencies i.e. IBPS and SBI. More than 10 lakh aspirants generally appear for the Bank PO exam conducted by these two agencies.

Preparation Strategy for Bank PO exam:

Understand the Syllabus Well: Whether you are a first time candidate appearing for the examination or have an experience in giving the exam, you should at first have a clear idea about the syllabus and the online examination pattern. The Bank PO Examination consists of five major papers as Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness(with special reference to Banking Industry), Computer Knowledge.

Make Your Study Plan: Time management plays crucial role to crack any examination. Make your timetable and study according to the schedule. Candidates are advised to study Topic wise. Take one topic at one time & practice more questions on that topic to make it your strength for the examination. Candidates should revise all the formulas and rules for each subject after fix period of time. For example: Revise basic English grammar rules from any grammar book at least once in a month.

Never neglect GK and Computer section: Computer knowledge and General Awareness is a part which is less time taking and candidates can easily score in this section.

Cultivate the reading habit: Cultivating the good reading habit helps one perform better in comprehensions and overall English section. Candidates should make a habit of reading newspapers regularly. Knowledge of English vocabulary can also be enhanced by reading newspapers on a daily basis.

Keep taking Speed Tests: The best possible way for your preparation is to go for self-assignments and solve Speed Test papers keeping your stopwatch on. This will help in improving your confidence and speed. Candidates should solve at least two practice papers or speed test on daily basis. The Regular practice is essential for QA and reasoning section. The regular practice allows candidates to clear their concepts and increases their speed and accuracy.

Find suitable study group: It would be a good idea to have a group study rather studying alone. A study group of 3 to 4 people helps candidates to learn new method and short tricks.

Focus on Accuracy: Candidates should focus on accuracy as Negative marking is applicable for the Objective Test. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Go through various information sources: It is important not to limit yourself to the books that offer information about the recent past. Candidates can take help of the internet to digging up information. It is important to go through books, news papers, journals, magazines, online portals, blogs and any source of vital information which could help preparing for the examination.

Starts preparation for Main exam immediately: The candidates should not wait for the result declaration of pre exam to start preparation for the Mains. They should start preparation immediately for the mains as it needs more time.

Be confident: Self Confidence is the key to crack this examination. From a comparative analysis of the candidates who got already selected, self confidence was one thing that found common amongst all selected ones.
