World Students’ Day
It was year 2010 when United Nations decided to mark the importance of India’s October 15th, Dr. Abdul Kalam's birthday, is announced as World Students’ Day by UNO. In India he is highly respected as a scientist and as an engineer. The proud and happiest moment for any Indian was when UNO announced 15th October, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's birthday, as a remarkable day in the world history.
An overview
Avul Pakir Jainul-abdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Madras Presidency, British India, usually referred to as Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He is a wonderful leader, a mentor, a scientist, a teacher and great philosopher. He was the 11th President of India. During his term as President, he was popularly known as the People’s President. This is a great prestige and privilege point for Kalam and to Indians. Before he became India’s president, he worked as an aeronautical engineer. He is popularly known as the Missile Man of India for his work on development of ballistic missile and space rocket technology. While delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, Kalam collapsed and died from an apparent cardiac arrest on 27 July 2015, aged 83.

Dr. Kalam is not only perspective to knowledge but also in encouraging students which made him gain the stature of students’ day by UNO. Agreeing to him, in today’s world, the modern ideology of being well-learned person is to sharpen the merit of the student.
A student has to develop from average to extraordinary. In this way of merit development, only study book can never make a student ideal. In order to be ideal he must walk through all branches of sharpening merit such as theory reading, understanding and its practical application.
He should give topmost priority in moulding his character.
He should lead a strictly disciplined life and never indulges in evil thoughts.
To be an ideal student, one should spend highest amount of time in the acquisition of knowledge because he should know that knowledge is the gateway of success.
In a word, an ideal student reflects all the good qualities and presents him as a model for other student
Role of students in development of society
Good students not only mean those who get an "A" in all of their learning in school or college exams. Of course, education is a very important part for the betterment of development process in case of a student. But it is not everything. Students who get good grades, that’s not the quality of a good student. One has to be good in every aspect if to fulfill the expectations of the society’s people. They can

Student activities
Students display and celebrate their acts of social responsibility. They have gatherings on campus to showcase the causes they volunteer for. The youth take part in gleeful competitions, indulge in gossip about the student unions. Although not as relevant to mankind, these gatherings attract a good deal of involvement, donations and attention for organizations and charities.The students enjoy the day meaningfully with the thoughts and works of Mr. Kalam.

World Student Day is a celebration of multiculturalism, diversity and cooperation among students across the globe. World Students’ Day has become an occasion for universities over the world to boast their masses of international students, and the good they do for the local community.
According to DR.APJ Abdul Kalam, students should have an aim in life, acquire knowledge through all possible sources, work hard and never accept defeat by the problem, always defeat the problem and succeed.
