Pankaj R Patel took over as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) for 2016-17 at the conclusion of the Chamber’s 89th Annual General Meeting.

Noted economist and former Planning Commission member Saumitra Chaudhuri passed away. He was 63.
Chaudhuri was appointed member of the Planning Commission in June 2009.
