India’s GDP could rise to about $8 trillion over next 15 years, says Arvind Panagariya.

“Today, the Indian economy is among the major economies, the fastest growing economy, it has now left China behind," the NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman said.

India’s gross domestic product (GDP) could rise to about $8 trillion over the next 15 years if the country registers an economic growth of 8% annually and come very close to eliminating abject poverty entirely, NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya has said here.

He said with that level of economic growth, living standards and amenities that are taken for granted in the west will become accessible to a very large part of the population in India in the coming 15 years.

नीति आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष ने कहा, "आज, भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में से एक है, सबसे तेज़ी से बढ़ती हुई अर्थव्यवस्था है, अब इसने चीन को भी पीछे छोड़ दिया है।"

भारत के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) अगले 15 सालों में 8 खरब डॉलर तक बढ़ सकता है अगर देश प्रतिवर्ष 8% की आर्थिक वृद्धि दर्ज करता है और पूरी तरह से गरीबी को समाप्त करने के करीब आ जायेगा, तो नीति आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष अरविंद पनागरिया ने यहां कहा है।

उन्होंने कहा कि आर्थिक विकास के उस स्तर का है, जो कि पश्चिम में दिए गए जीवन स्तर और सुविधाओं को आने वाले 15 वर्षों में भारत में आबादी के बहुत बड़े हिस्से के लिए सुलभ बनाया जा सकेगा।
