1. PLACID (ADJECTIVE): tranquil

Synonyms: calm, compose   

Antonyms: turbulent, hostile

Example Sentence:

The placid husband was the total opposite of his easily upset wife.

2. POMPOUS (ADJECTIVE): selfish

Synonyms: arrogant, flamboyant 

Antonyms: unpretentious, humble

Example Sentence:

She is a pompous girl.

3. PEEVISH (ADJECTIVE): acrimonious

Synonyms: angry, cantankerous

Antonyms:  friendly, pleasant

Example Sentence:

He has a peevish tongue.

4. PRECARIOUS (ADJECTIVE): hazardous

Synonyms: dangerous, unhealthy    

Antonyms: guarded, protected

He works in a precarious industry.


5. MOLLIFY (VERB): appease
