World Animal Day

Animal is one of the most striking creation of this world. They are important to us in each and every manner. Not only they are an essential part of our food chain but also they are inevitable to maintain the ecological balance of our earth. It is a fact that, from past many years human activities are playing a crucial role in threatening their existence. A huge number of animal species already got extinct from our earth and many more is on their way to extinction.

Some major human activities responsible for this worst condition of animals are:

Deforestation – This is the major cause of animal’s extinction because deforestation is destructing their natural habitat. We are destroying their natural habitat and forcing them to make a shift to concreate jungles, which of course is not acceptable by them.

Pollution – Each and every type of pollution is harmful not only for us but for animals too. The soil in which they are living, the water they are drinking, the impure air, all are damaging animals from deep inside.

Apart from this, many other factors are also responsible such as excessive use of poly bags – which is engulfed by animals and later on it choked their digestive system. It ultimately leads to their death. 

About World Animal Day

World animal day is observed every year on 4 October. It was initiated by Heinrich Zimmermann. First world animal day was organized on 24 march 1925 at Berlin. It was then shifted on 4th of October in 1929.

The mission of World Animal Day, according to the official World Animal Day website is "To raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. It's celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognized as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare”.

Various conferences, seminars, discussions has been organized all across the globe to celebrate this day. We as a responsible human should take the issue of animals seriously. We need to think about their protection and proper care, because they also need to be pampered by us. So, this world animal day lets pledge together to make this earth a better and beautiful place for animals.
