India slips 21 slots on World Economic Forum Gender Gap index
India slipped 21 places on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap index to a lowly 108, behind neighbours China and Bangladesh, primarily due to less participation of women in the economy and low wages
Moreover, India’s latest ranking is 10 notches lower than its reading in 2006 when the WEF started measuring the gender gap.
विश्व आर्थिक मंच (डब्ल्यूईएफ) के महिला पुरुष समानता सूचकांक में भारत 21 पायदान फिसलकर 108वें स्थान पर आ गया है। अर्थव्यवस्था और कम वेतन में महिलाओं की भागीदारी निचले स्तर पर रहने से भारत अपने पड़ोसी देशों चीन और बांग्लादेश से भी पीछे है।
डब्ल्यूईएफ ने सबसे पहले 2006 में इस तरह की सूची प्रकाशित की थी। उस समय के हिसाब से भी भारत 10 स्थान पीछे है।

Ajay Bisaria appointed high commissioner to Pakistan
Seasoned diplomat Ajay Bisaria, currently the Indian ambassador to Poland, has been appointed the country's top envoy to Pakistan.
This was announced by the external affairs ministry.
The 1987-batch IFS officer will succeed Gautam Bambawale, who was last month posted to China.
