Centre Has Cancelled Haj Subsidy.
- Minority affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has announced that the subsidy will be stopped.
- 175,000 Muslims would be going on the Haj pilgrimage from India this year.
- The Saudi Arabian government has agreed in principle to allow the Haj journey from India by ships.
- The decision was the outcome of the Supreme Court’s order on the matter six years ago.
- A constitutional bench of the Supreme Court had, during the Congress regime in 2012, directed that the end of Haj subsidy.
- In 2016-17, the Centre had only allocated Rs 4.5 billion for Haj.

- अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी ने घोषणा की है कि सब्सिडी रोक दी जाएगी।
- 175,000 मुसलमान इस साल भारत से हज यात्रा पर जा रहे हैं।
- सऊदी अरब सरकार ने जहाजों द्वारा भारत से हज यात्रा की अनुमति देने के लिए सिद्धांत रूप में सहमति जताई है।
- मामले पर फैसला छह साल पहले सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेश का नतीजा था।
- सुप्रीम कोर्ट की संवैधानिक पीठ ने 2012 में कांग्रेस शासन के दौरान निर्देश दिया था कि हज सब्सिडी को ख़त्म कर दिया जाये।
- 2016-17 में केंद्र ने केवल हज के लिए 4.5 अरब रुपये का आवंटन किया था।
