- With an aim to providing first-and-last-mile connectivity, railway public sector undertaking (PSU) Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced a partnership with cab aggregator Ola, giving commuters an option book taxi on its app.
- The tie-up, a six month pilot project, will give customers access to Ola booking services when they visit the IRCTC Rail Connect App and on its website.
- The Ola cab facility will provide all the services offered such as Ola Micro, Ola Mini, Ola Auto, Ola Share etc. on the same price available directly on the IRCTC Rail Connect App and website. However, customers would not be entitled to any discount.
- Customers can choose to book cabs up to seven days in advance or upon reaching the railway station. In addition, the IRCTC outlets at railway stations or Ola’s self-serving kiosk will also enable commuters to book cabs.

CBI Filed Charges Against A Former Canara Bank Chairman
- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has filed a charge against a former chairman of Canara Bank and others. These officials has helped a company defraud the bank of about $10.5 million taken in loans over four years ago.
- CBI also arrested seven people - including two former managers of State Bank of India, a former manager of Canara Bank and directors of a Kolkata-based private company - in a separate “bank fraud” case of about 150 million rupees ($2.3 million).
- As of last September, state banks held about 87 percent of the Indian banking system’s 9.46 trillion rupees (about $147 billion) of soured loans that are non-performing, restructured or rolled over.
- In the December 2013 case, the CBI, the federal investigating agency, said charges were filed against five former Canara Bank officials including former chairman and managing director RK Dubey, two former executive directors of the bank and a current bank official.

Senior poet Kedarnath Singh passed away.
- Gyanpith awardee and renowned Hindi poet Kedarnath Singh passed away in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. He was 84.
- Kedarnath Singh was one of India’s most prominent modern Hindi poets besides being an essayist and a well-known critic. Born on 7 July 1934 in village Chakia of Ballia district in eastern Uttar Pradesh he won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1989 for his poetry collection Akaal Mein Saras and the gyanpith Award in 2013.
- Kedarnath had been a professor and head of the Department of Hindi Language at Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Indian Languages Centre. His works include collections of poems such as Zameen Pak Rahi Hai, Baagh, Tolstoy aur Cycle, Yahan se Dekho and Abhi Bilkul Abhi.
- Among his essays and stories are Kalpana aur Chhayavad, Kabristan Mein Panchayat, Hindi Kavita Mein Bimb Vidhan and Mere Samay ke Shabd.

- केदारनाथ सिंह एक निबंधकार और एक प्रसिद्ध समीक्षक होने के अलावा भारत के सबसे प्रमुख आधुनिक हिंदी कवियों में से एक थे। 7 जुलाई 1934 को पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश के बलिया जिले के चकिया गांव में पैदा हुए, उन्होंने 1989 में अपनी कविता संग्रह अकाल मीन सारस के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार और 2013 में ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार जीता था।
- केदारनाथ, जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय के भारतीय भाषा केंद्र में हिंदी भाषा विभाग के प्रोफेसर और प्रमुख रहे हैं। उनके कार्यों में ज़मीन पाक राही है, बाघ, टॉल्स्टॉय और साइकिल, याहान से दोखो और अभि बिल्कुल अभि जैसे कविताओं का संग्रह शामिल है।
