Indu Malhotra Sworn in as Supreme Court Judge
Senior advocate Indu Malhotra was sworn in as a Supreme Court judge, by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. This makes her the first woman lawyer to be directly elevated to the position of an apex court judge.
She has represented various statutory corporations like the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) before the Supreme Court, as well as bodies like the National Commission for Women.

इंदु मल्होत्रा को सुप्रीम कोर्ट के मुख्य न्यायाधीश दीपक मिश्रा ने शपथ दिलाई। इसी के साथ इंदु मल्होत्रा सीधे सुप्रीम कोर्ट की जज बनने वाली पहली महिला वकील बन गई है।
इन्होंने सिक्योरिटीज एक्सचेंज बोर्ड ऑफ इंडिया (सेबी), दिल्ली विकास प्राधिकरण (डीडीए), वैज्ञानिक और औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद (सीएसआईआर) और भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद (आईसीएआर) जैसे सुप्रीम कोर्ट के समक्ष विभिन्न वैधानिक निगमों के साथ ही महिलाओं के लिए राष्ट्रीय आयोग जैसे निकायों का प्रतिनिधित्व किया है।

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is awarded the National Intellectual Property (IP) Award 2018 in the category “Top R&D Institution / Organization for Patents and Commercialization”.
The award was given at a function organized by Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (CII) in New Delhi, on the occasion of World Intellectual property day.
The Indian Intellectual Property Office confers National Intellectual Property (IP) Award to outstanding innovators, organizations and companies in the fields of patents, designs, trademarks and geographical indications on the occasion of World IP Day every year.
World Intellectual Property Day
World Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on 26 April. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to "raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life".
The date of April 26 was chosen because in the year 1970,the World Intellectual Property Organization was established.
