The French soldiers who returned from America prepared ground for the French Revolution. Some scholars told that French Revolution was born of a union of intellectual awakening and physical misery. Against inequality and discord in society, the French Revolution raised the slogan of “Liberty, Equality and fraternity” which echoed throughout Europe. The revolutionaries aroused the common masses to rise against their lawful rulers, Extremities perpetrated by the revolutionaries evoked among liberals like Edmund Burke in England and Hamilton and Madisyn in America a harsh reaction against the Revolution. As opposed to Burke. Thomas Paine vigorously supported popular sovereignty. The impact of the Revolution was not confined to France alone but was felt throughout Europe and North America.
