1. India successfully test-fires nuclear-capable Agni-5
India has successfully test-fired Indigenously developed surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-5 from Dr Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast. This missile has a strike range of 5,000 km.

भारत ने ओडिशा तट से डॉ अब्दुल कलाम आईलैंड से स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित सतह से सतह पर मार करने में सक्षम बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल अग्नि-5 का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया है। यह मिसाइल 5,000 किलोमीटर की दूरी तक लक्ष्य भेदने में सक्षम है।
2. SWIFT India ropes in ex-SBI chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as board chairman
SWIFT India has appointed ex-SBI chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as the new chairman of its board. SWIFT India is a joint venture of top Indian public and private sector banks and SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication).
Bhattacharya will succeed former banker M V Nair, who is stepping down after completing five years with the company, SWIFT India said in a statement.
एसबीआई की पूर्व प्रमुख अरुंधति स्विफ्ट इंडिया बोर्ड की चेयरमैन बनीं
स्विफ्ट इंडिया ने एसबीआई की पूर्व प्रमुख अरुंधति भट्टाचार्य को अपने निदेशक मंडल का नया चेयरमैन नियुक्त किया है।
स्विफ्ट इंडिया देश के शीर्ष सार्वजनिक और निजी क्षेत्र के बैंकों तथा स्विफ्ट (सोसायटी फॉर वर्ल्डवाइड इंटरबैंक फाइनेंशियल टेलीकम्युनिकेशन) का संयुक्त उद्यम है।
स्विफ्ट इंडिया ने बयान में कहा कि भट्टाचार्य बैंकर एम वी नायर का स्थान लेंगी, जो कंपनी में पांच साल पूरा करने के बाद पद छोड़ रहे हैं।
3. Railway employee conferred Sahitya Akademi Award for Santhali novel
Shyam Sundar Besra, chief inspector of ticket working in Asansol Division of the Eastern Railway, was conferred the coveted Sahitya Akademi Award. He has been awarded for his novel 'Marom' which is based on the natural, social, economic and political conditions in Santhal Pargana.

पूर्व रेलवे के आसनसोल संभाग में मुख्य टिकट निरीक्षक के तौर पर कार्यरत श्याम सुंदर बेसरा को साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से नवाजा गया है। यह पुरस्कार उन्हें उनके उपन्यास ‘मारोम’ के लिए दिया गया है जो संथाल परगना में प्रकृति, सामाजिक, आर्थिक और राजनीतिक स्थितियों पर आधारित है।

Reserve Bank Governor Urjit Patel resigned from his post. He has cited personal reasons for his resignation.

5. Tamil Nadu launches toll-free helpline ‘181’ for domestic violence victims
The Tamil Nadu government launched a 24-hour toll-free helpline ‘181’ for women facing domestic violence and sexual harassment. The initiative was launched by the state’s Chief Minister K Palaniswami.

तमिलनाडु सरकार ने घरेलू हिंसा और यौन उत्पीड़न का सामना करने वाली महिलाओं के अलावा महिलाओं की हर प्रकार से सहायता के वास्ते 24 घंटे टोल-फ्री हेल्पलाइन सेवा '181' की शुरुआत की। मुख्यमंत्री के पलानीस्वामी ने इस सेवा की शुरुआत की।
