After making her big-screen debut in 1968’s Carson McCullers adaptation The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter – a role she won after a nationwide talent search – Locke earned both an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

सपोर्टिग एक्ट्रेस के लिए ऑस्कर नामांकन प्राप्त कर चुकीं अभिनेत्री और निर्देशक सांड्रा लॉक का निधन हो गया है। लॉक ने 1967 में कार्सन मैककुलर्स के उपन्यास 'द हार्ट इज ए लोनली हंटर' के फिल्म रूपांतरण में किशोरी मिल केली की भूमिका निभाई थी, जिसके लिए उन्हें बेस्टर सपोर्टिग एक्टर ऑस्कर का नामांकन मिला। उन्हें बेस्ट सपोर्टिग एक्ट्रेस और मोस्ट प्रोमिसिंग न्यूकमर के लिए गोल्डन ग्लोब नामांकन भी मिला था।
India Post Launches Internet Banking Facility For Savings Account Users
Minister of State for Communications (lndependent Charge), Shri Manoj Sinha launched the e-Commerce Portal of the Department of Posts (DoP). The Portal will provide an e-Market place to sellers especially to rural artisans / self-help groups / women entrepreneurs / State and Central PSUs / Autonomous Bodies etc. to sell their products to buyers across the Country. The small and local sellers, who have been left behind in e-Commerce space will now, by leveraging the vast physical and lT network of DoP, be able to maximize their reach and retailing power. The buyers can access the products of their choice displayed by sellers on the portal and place online orders by making digital payments. The products will be shipped through Speed Post.
Shri Sinha also launched the internet banking facility for Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) customers which are under Core Banking Solution (CBS). Now, around 17 Crore POSB accounts will be intra-operable and customers can also transfer funds online to RD and PPF accounts of Post Offices. This facility will help customers to do their transactions without physically visiting post offices.

भारतीय डाक ने बचत खाता उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए इंटरनेट बैंकिंग सुविधा लॉन्च की
संचार राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री मनोज सिन्हा ने डाक विभाग के ई-कॉमर्स पोर्टल का शुभारंभ किया। यह पोर्टल विक्रेताओं विशेषकर ग्रामीण कारीगरों/स्व-सहायता समूहों/ महिला उद्यमियों/राज्य और केन्द्रीय सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उपक्रमों/स्वायत निकायों आदि को अपने उत्पाद देश भर में बेचने के लिए एक ई-मार्केट प्लेस उपलब्ध कराएगा। छोटे और स्थानीय विक्रेता, जो ई-कॉमर्स के क्षेत्र में पीछे छूट चुके हैं, डाक विभाग के विशाल वास्तविक और आईटी नेटवर्क का लाभ उठाते हुए अब अपनी पहुंच और खुदरा ताकत को अधिकतम बना पाने में समर्थ हो सकेंगे। खरीदार विक्रेताओं द्वारा पोर्टल पर प्रदर्शित किए गए उत्पादों तक पहुंच कायम कर सकेंगे और डिजिटल भुगतान के जरिए ऑर्डर कर सकेंगे। उत्पादों को स्पीड पोस्ट के माध्यम से भेजा जाएगा।
श्री सिन्हा ने पोस्ट ऑफिस सेविंग बैंक (पीओएसबी) ग्राहकों के लिए इंटरनेट बैंकिंग सुविधा की भी शुरूआत की, जो कोर बैंकिंग सॉल्युशन (सीबीएस) के अंतर्गत आती है। अब लगभग 17 करोड़ पीओएसबी खाते अंतर-संचालित होंगे और ग्राहक अपनी रकम ऑनलाइन डाकघर के आरडी और पीपीएफ खातों में जमा करा सकेंगे। इस सुविधा से ग्राहकों को डाकघर जाए बिना ही लेन-देन करने में सहायता मिलेगी।

श्री रामफल पंवार एनसीआरबी के निदेशक नियुक्त
नेटग्रिड के संयुक्त सचिव श्री रामफल पंवार को एनसीआरबी का निदेशक नियुक्त किया गया है। श्री पंवार भारतीय पुलिस सेवा के पश्चिम बंगाल कैडर के 1988 बैच के अधिकारी हैं।
Noted English writer Amitav Ghosh has been honored with Jnanpith Award 2018, a literary award given to an author for "outstanding contribution towards literature.
He becomes the first author in English to win India's foremost literary prize.
Ghosh is also recipient of the Padma Shri and Sahitya Akademi Award.
Some of the biggest Indian writers have been awarded with this prestigious literary recognition. Major names among the 58 recipients include literary icons Krishna Sobti, Kedarnath Singh, Shrilal Shukla, Nirmal Verma, Girish Karnad, Mahasweta Devi, Amrita Pritam and U R Ananthamurthy.
ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार से नवाज़े जाने वाले अंग्रेज़ी के पहले लेखक बने अमिताव घोष
लेखक अमिताव घोष को साहित्य के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए 54वें ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है और वह इस सम्मान से नवाज़े जाने वाले अंग्रेज़ी के पहले लेखक बन गए हैं। 2007 में पद्मश्री से सम्मानित हो चुके अमिताव ने साल 1988 के अपने नोवेल 'द शैडो लाइन्स' के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार जीता था।
