1. Foundation laid for Science City in Dehradun
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone for 'Science City' in Jhajra near Dehradun. It is the fifth science city in the country.
The Government of India has sanctioned a sum of Rs 134 crore for this project.

उत्तराखंड केमुख्यमंत्री त्रिवेन्द्र सिंह रावत ने देहरादून के निकट झाझरा में ‘साइंस सिटी’ का शिलान्यास किया। यह देश की पांचवीं साइंस सिटी है ।
इस साइंस सिटी के लिये केन्द्र ने 134 करोड़ रू की धनराशि स्वीकृत की है।
2. Sailor Upamanyu Dutta clinches bronze in Asian regatta
Young Mumbai sailor Upamanyu Dutta bagged the bronze medal in the Laser Standard race for men in the Laser Asian Sailing Championship which concluded in Singapore.
Nethra Kumanan of Chennai achieved a creditable 4th position in the Laser Radial event for women.
सेलर उपामन्यु दत्ता ने एशियाई रेगाटा में कांस्य पदक जीता
मुंबई के युवा नौकाचालक उपामन्यु दत्ता ने सिंगापुर में समाप्त हुई लेजर एशियाई नौकायन चैम्पियनशिप की पुरूषवर्ग की लेजर स्टैंडर्ड रेस में कांस्य पदक अपने नाम किया।
चेन्नई की नेत्रा कुमानन ने महिला वर्ग की लेजर रेडियल स्पर्धा में चौथा स्थान हासिल किया।
3. China's Liu Hong sets 50km walk world record
China's Liu Hong became the first woman to complete the women's 50km race walk event in less than four hours.
The Olympic gold medallist completed the Chinese Race Walk Grand Prix in the eastern city of Huangshan in just 3hr 59min 15 sec, the International Association of Athletics Federations said.

चीन की लियू होंग, 50 किलोमीटर पैदल चाल स्पर्धा को चार घंटे से कम समय में पूरा करने वाली दुनिया की पहली महिला बनी।
एथलेटिक्स महासंघों के अंतरराष्ट्रीय संघ ने बताया कि इस ओलंपिक स्वर्ण पदक विजेता ने चीन पैदल चाल ग्रांप्री को पूरा करने में तीन घंटे 59 मिनट 15 सेकेंड का समय लिया।
4. Former Kerala Minister Thankappan dies
Veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Kerala minister, V J Thankappan died. He was 87.
A member of the Left party since 1963, Thankappan had served as a minister in the E K Nayanar cabinet during the 1987-91 period.
He had represented Nemom constituency thrice and Neyyattinakara once in the assembly.
केरल के पूर्व मंत्री थंकप्पन का निधन
मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी (माकपा) के वरिष्ठ नेता एवं केरल के पूर्व मंत्री वी जे थंकप्पन का निधन हो गया। वह 87 वर्ष के थे।
वह 1963 से वाम दल के सदस्य थे। थंकप्पन ने 1987-91 के दौरान ई के नैयनार कैबिनेट में मंत्री का पद भी संभाला।
उन्होंने विधानसभा में तीन बार निमोम का और एक बार नेय्याट्टिनकारा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।
