The Supreme Court has finally ordered the Staff Selection Commission to declare the impending result of Combined Graduate Level, CGL exam that was conducted in 2017. The apex court has removed the stay order on the declaration of result and asked the Commission to release the result soon. The stay order was directed by the Court last year after SSC CGL exam papers were allegedly leaked in some parts of the nation.
The Court had appointed a high power committee in January of seven members headed by retd SC judge GS Singhvi to look into the issue and suggest measures to make the conduct of entrance exams for jobs & admission in educational institutions foolproof. The committee also included former Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani and scientist Vijay Bhatkar.
In 2017, the examination papers of SSC CGL was allegedly leaked in some parts of the nation. After this incident, the Commission had come under huge criticism as the students took the streets to protest the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the examination system.
At that time the court had canceled the examination and asked National Testing or the CBSE “in the interest of students” to conduct the exam again. Later, the Centre said that there was no need for re-examination of entire paper as the leak was ‘extremely localized’. Those who were found guilty were identified and action was taken against them.
SSC CGL exam was conducted for recruitment in Central Govt jobs. The Commission is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices
