1. India slips to 141 in annual Global Peace Index; Iceland retains top spot
According to the Global Peace Index released by Australian think tank Institute for Economics and Peace, India has slipped by four points to rank 141 among 163 countries. Iceland has topped this list.
Iceland remains the most peaceful country in the world, a position it has held since 2008, the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) said in a statement.
वैश्विक शांति सूचकांक में पांच स्थान फिसला भारत
ऑस्ट्रेलिया का शोध संस्थान इंस्टीट्यूट फोर इकोनॉमिक्स एंड पीस द्वारा जारी वैश्विक शांति सूचकांक के अनुसार, भारत इस साल पांच स्थान फिसल कर 163 देशों की सूची में 141वें स्थान पर आ गया। आइसलैंड इस सूची में शीर्ष स्थान पर है।
रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, आइसलैंड 2008 से सबसे शांत देश बना हुआ है।
2. India successfully tests scramjet demonstrator aircraft
India successfully launched the indigenously-developed Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) in its maiden test from a base off the Odisha coast.
The HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft for hypersonic speed flight, it can cruise at a speed of mach 6 and move up to an altitude of 32.5 km (20 miles) in 20 seconds, the sources said.
भारत ने किया एचएसटीडीवी का सफल परीक्षण
भारत ने ओडिशा तट के पास एक बेस से स्वदेश में विकसित हाइपरसोनिक टेक्नोलॉजी डेमोंस्ट्रेटर व्हीकल(एचएसटीडीवी) का पहला सफल परीक्षण किया।
उन्होंने कहा कि एचएसटीडीवी 20 सेकेंड में 32.5 किलोमीटर ऊंचाई तक जा सकता है और ऐसा होने पर भारत उन चुनिंदा देशों के समूह में शामिल हो जाएगा जिसके पास ऐसी प्रौद्योगिकी होगी ।
3. Former Congress minister Shivnarayan Meena dies
Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh minister Shivnarayan Meena died. He was 68.
He served as a minister in the previous Congress-led state government headed by Digvijay Singh.

वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता एवं मध्यप्रदेश के पूर्व मंत्री शिवनारायण मीणा का निधन हो गया। वह 68 वर्ष के थे।
चांचौड़ा से विधायक रहे मीणा कांग्रेस नीत दिग्विजय सिंह की सरकार में मंत्री रहे थे।
4. Italy confers Knighthood on Indian author
Italy has conferred Knighthood on Italian language expert Pratishtha Singh for her extensive contribution in the field of culture and political studies promoting Indo-Italian ties.
Singh, an author who has taught Italian language, literature and cultural history at the Delhi University, was awarded the "Knight of Order of the Star of Italy" by Italian Ambassador to India Lorenzo Angeloni here recently.

5. Renowned Indian-origin writer Ahmed Essop dies
Renowned author and former educationist of Indian origin Ahmed Essop has died in South Africa. He was 88.
