1- N. S. Vishwanathan has been reappointed as RBI deputy governor for one year
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the extension of Vishwanathan's term as RBI deputy governor by one year with effect from 4 July 2019. His tenure was to end 3 July 2019 .Vishwanathan is in charge of regulation of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks.
Vishwanathan is one of the three deputy governors, besides B P Kanungo and M K Jain, working at the central bank.
Recently, Viral Acharya had resigned from the post of deputy governor, RBI. Acharya, a New York University economics professor who once called himself the 'poor man's Raghuram Rajan', resigned six months before the scheduled end of his three-year term.

The annual general meeting of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) in Ahmedabad has decided to confer its highest honour — the SJFI Medal — to badminton stalwart Prakash Padukone.
Padukone was chosen for the honour for his wholesome contribution to sport and for record-breaking reign in the National and international scene.

3- India pledges to contribute USD 5 million in 2019 to UN Palestine refugee agency
India has pledged to contribute 5 million US Dollars in 2019 to the UN Palestine refugee agency. It also voiced concern over the agency's financial situation and called for ensuring sustained financial support for its work.
India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador K Nagaraj Naidu said the Government has increased its annual financial contribution fourfold to the UNRWA core budget, from 1.25 million dollars in 2016 to 5 million in 2018.
He was speaking at a meeting of the General Assembly Ad Hoc Committee for Voluntary Contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The Indian Government is assisting 150 Palestinian professionals every year under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation programme. Under an India-Palestine development partnership, agreements have been signed including in agriculture, healthcare and youth affairs in the last five years.

4- J&K: Operation Khumaar launched to make 312 panchayats tobacco-free
In Jammu and Kashmir a campaign has been launched in Rajouri, a border district of Jammu division called “Operation Khumaar” to make 312 panchayats tobacco-free. The programme is run by the district administration to make panchayats free from tobacco and tobacco-based products.
Under this programme, even the headmasters of the schools have been authorised to impose a fine on the sale of tobacco within 100 yards of school limits.
Block Medical Officers have been directed to set up counselling centres at all Community Health Centres (CHCs) to help tobacco consumers to quit this habit.
J & K: 312 पंचायतों को तंबाकू मुक्त बनाने के लिए ऑपरेशन 'खुमार' शुरू किया गया
जम्मू और कश्मीर में 312 पंचायतों को तंबाकू मुक्त बनाने के लिए जम्मू संभाग के सीमावर्ती जिले राजौरी में एक अभियान शुरू किया गया है। जिला प्रशासन द्वारा पंचायतों को तंबाकू और तंबाकू आधारित उत्पादों से मुक्त करने के लिए कार्यक्रम चलाया जा रहा है।
इस कार्यक्रम के तहत, स्कूलों के प्रधानाध्यापकों को भी स्कूल की सीमा के 100 गज के भीतर तंबाकू की बिक्री पर जुर्माना लगाने के लिए अधिकृत किया गया है।
