Q. 9. A shopkeeper sold an article for Rs. 18200 with a discount of 9% and gained 13.75%. If no discount was allowed, what would be his profit percentage?

Q. 10. If the difference of compound interest and simple interest at 12.5% on certain sum of money for third year Rs. 1275. Find the sum of money.

यदि किसी निश्चित धन पर 12.5% की दर से तीसरे वर्ष के चक्रवृद्धि ब्याज और साधारण ब्याज का अंतर 1275 रूपये है, तो मूलधन ज्ञात कीजिये ।

x = 1, – 4
II. 3y2 – 10y + 8 = 0
y = 2, 1.33
Hence, y > x

I. 3x2 – 10x + 7 = 0
3x2 – 3x – 7x + 7 = 0
3x (x – 1) – 7(x – 1) = 0
(3x – 7) (x – 1) = 0
x = 1, 7/3
II. 15y2 – 22y + 8 = 0
15y2 – 10y – 12y + 8 = 0
5y (3y – 2) – 4 (3y – 2) = 0
(5y – 4) (3y – 2) = 0
y = 4/5, 2/3

4x (5x – 3) – 1 (5x – 3) = 0

4y (5y – 1) – 1(5y – 1) = 0
(4y – 1) (5y – 1) = 0
y = 1/4, 1/5

20x2 + 15x + 16x + 12 = 0
5x (4x + 3) + 4 (4x + 3) = 0
(5x + 4) (4x + 3) = 0
x = – 4/5, – ¾
II. 21y2 – 23y + 6 = 0
21y2 – 9y – 14y + 6 = 0
3y (7y – 3) – 2 (7y – 3) = 0
(3y – 2) (7y – 3) = 0
y = 2/3, 3/7

4x2 – 6x – 2x + 3 = 0
2x (2x – 3) – 1 (2x – 3) = 0
(2x – 1) (2x – 3) = 0

II. 2y2 – 13y + 15 = 0
2y2 – 10y – 3y + 15 = 0
2y(y – 5) – 3(y – 5) = 0
(2y – 3) (y – 5) = 0
y = 5, ½

20x × 42 = 840x
13x × 21 = 273x
840x – 273x = 567x
567x/7 = 81
21 + 81 = 102

Ratio between equivalent profit = (8000 × 6 + 16000 × 8) : (16000 × 6 + 24000 × 6)
= 144000 : 240000
= 3 : 5
Required % = Rs. 1728

Number of persons in category VI = x
Number of persons in categories VII and VIII = (100 – x)
x × 35 + (100 – x) × 43.75 = 42 × 100
35x + 43.75 × 100 – 43.75x = 4200
4375 – 8.75x = 4200
8.75x = 175
x = 20

Q-(9) Sol-(4)
S.P. = Rs. 18200 = 91%
M.P. = 100% = Rs. 20000
C.P. = Rs. 16000
If no discount is allowed, then
Profit % = 4000×100/16000= 25%

Q-(10) Sol-(5)
Let the sum of money be Rs. 512.
According to the question,
8 + 8 + 1 = 1275
17 = 1275
1 = 75
Sum of money = 75 × 512 = Rs. 38400
