Q-(6-10) In each of the following question, a question is followed by information given in two statement named as Quantity-I (Q1) and Quantity –II (Q2). You have to study the information and compare the value derived from Quantity-I and Quantity-II. Then answer -

निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों में प्रत्येक प्रश्न के लिए कुछ सूचना एवं दो कथन परिमाण- I (Q1) और परिमाण- II (Q2) के रूप में दी गयी हैं। आप प्रश्न सहित सूचना का अध्ययन कर परिमाण- I और परिमाण- II से प्राप्त मानों की तुलना कीजिये और उत्तर दीजिये –

(6) Find the percentage of girls in the class this year.

Quantity I: This year the percentage of boys in the class is 60%.
Quantity II: Last year out of the 300 students, 50% was boys and this year the number of boys are increased by 10% but total students remains same.

Because percentage of boys = 60%,
So the percentage of girls = 100 – 60% = 40%

Quantity II:

Boys was 300 × 50% = 150, girls = 300 × 50% = 150

This year, because boys are increased by 10% and total students remain same.

Boys = 150 × 110% = 165, girls = 300 – 165 = 135
% of girls = 45%

Let the age of Anushika = 7x, Tushar = 8x
8x – 7x = 3
x = 3
Age of Anushika = 7 × 3 = 21 years

Quantity II:
Total age of Anushika and N = 25 × 2 = 50 years
Let the age of Anushika = x, N = x + 2
x + x + 2 = 50
2x = 50 – 2
2x = 48
x = 24
Age of Anushika = 24 years

Let speed of boat = x kmph, speed of stream = y kmph
upstream speed = x – y, downstream speed = x + y
x + y = 54/9 = 6 … (I)
x – y = 40/10 = 4 … (II)

Speed of boat = 5 kmph

Quantity II:
Let speed of boat = x kmph, speed of stream = 1 kmph
downstream speed = x + 1
45/9 = x + 1
5 – 1 = x
x = 4
Speed of boat = 4 kmph

Quantity I:
Area of the square = 24 × 24 = 576 cm2
Area of the square = Area of the rectangle
Area of the rectangle = 576 cm2

Quantity II:
Length of the rectangle = 6x, Breadth = 5x
Perimeter = 88
2 (l + b) = 88
6x + 5x = 44
11x = 44
x = 4
Length = 24 cm, breadth = 20 cm
Area of the rectangle = 24 × 20 = 480 cm2

Quantity I > Quantity II

Let the cost price of Quantity II be x.
Therefore, the cost price of Quantity I will be = (476 – x)

Quantity II Quantity I
Cost price x (476 – x)
Selling price x × 75/100 (476 – x) × 128/100
Now as both the SP’s are equal,

25x = (476 – x) × 43
or, 25x + 43x = 476 × 43
or, 68x = 476 × 43
or, x = 301
Quantity I: The cost price of the headphone at 29% profit = 476 – 301 = 175

Quantity II: Selling price of the headphone sold at 25% loss=225.75
