Answer Key-
Q-(1) Sol-(5)

4x + x + 162 = 392
x = 46
Required answer = 162 + 46 – 140 = 6

Q-(2) Sol-(2)
Distance covered by first train = 18 × 40 = 720 m.
Total distance covered by the second train = 720 – 90 = 630 m.
Time taken by the second train to cross the bridge = 27 seconds

Q-(3) Sol-(4)
36………………………….5
45………….. 180………..4

30 …………………………- 6

Work done in first 12 minutes= 12 (5+4)=108

Remaining work =180-108=72

Required time=72/3=24 minute

Q-(4) Sol-(4)

In one hour first train will cover 80 km, so distance between them remains only 440-80=36.

Now

Time to cover remaining distance by both trains= 1h 48m

so required answer will be 10:48 am

Q-(5) Sol-(3)
Required number of ways = 144

Q-(6) Sol-(3)
(I) 2x2 – 6x – 4x + 12 = 0
2x (x – 3) – 4 (x – 3) = 0
(x – 3) (2x – 4) = 0
x = 3, 2
(II) 4y2 = 16
y = 2, – 2
Hence, x > y

Q-(7) Sol-(2)

(I) 18x2 – 5x – 2 = 0
18x2 – 9x + 4x – 2 = 0
9x (2x – 1) + 2 (2x – 1) = 0
(2x – 1) (9x + 2) = 0
x = 1/2 , –2/9
(II) 2y2 – 15y + 18 = 0
2y2 – 12y – 3y + 18 = 0
2y (y – 6) – 3 (y – 6) = 0
y = 6, 3/2
Hence, x < y

Q-(8) Sol-(2)
(I) x2 = 64
x = + 8

(II) 5y = 70 – 5 = 65
y = 65/5
y = 13

Hence, x < y

Q-(9) Sol-(3)

From statement (I),
Area of square = (21)2 = 441 cm.2
From statement (II),
Area of square = (21)2 = 441 cm.2

Q-(10) Sol-(5)
From statement (I),
x × 40/10= 10
x = 25
From statement (II),
y × 30/100= 18
y = 60
x: y = 5: 12
