- History was scripted in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on the evening of 26th May 2014 as Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India after a historic mandate from the people of India. In Narendra Modi, the people of India see a dynamic, decisive and development-oriented leader who has emerged as a ray of hope for the dreams and aspirations of a billion Indians. His focus on development, eye for detail and efforts to bring a qualitative difference in the lives of the poorest of the poor have made Narendra Modi a popular and respected leader across the length and breadth of India.

- 26 मई, 2014 की शाम को राष्ट्रपति भवन के प्रांगण में एक इतिहास लिखा गया जब नरेंद्र मोदी ने भारत की जनता से ऐतिहासिक जनादेश प्राप्त करने के बाद भारत के प्रधान मंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली। भारत की जनता ने नरेंद्र मोदी में एक ऐसे ओजस्वी, निर्णायक तथा विकासोन्मुख नेता की छवि देखी जो करोड़ों भारतीयों के सपनों और आकांक्षाओं को पूरा करने के लिए आशा की एक किरण बनकर सामने आए हैं। विकास पर जोर देने, विस्तार पर नज़र रखने तथा गरीबों के जीवन में गुणात्मक बदलाव लाने के उनके प्रयासों ने नरेंद्र मोदी को संपूर्ण भारत में एक लोकप्रिय तथा सम्मानित नेता बना दिया है।

- Narendra Modi’s life has been a journey of courage, compassion and constant hardwork. At a very young age he had decided to devote his life in service of the people. He displayed his skills as a grass root level worker, an organiser and an administrator during his 13 year long stint as the Chief Minister of his home state of Gujarat, where he ushered a paradigm shift towards pro-people and pro-active good governance.

- Narendra Modi’s inspiring life journey to the Office of Prime Minister began in the by-lanes of Vadnagar, a small town in North Gujarat’s Mehsana district. He was born on the 17th of September 1950; three years after India had gained its Independence. This makes him the first Prime Minister to be born in independent India. Modi is the third child born to Damodardas Modi and Hiraba Modi. Modi comes from a family of humble origins and modest means. The entire family lived in a small single storey house which was approximately 40 feet by 12 feet.

- नरेंद्र मोदी की प्रधान मंत्री कार्यालय तक की प्रेरणाप्रद जीवन-यात्रा उत्तर गुजरात के मेहसाणा जिले के एक छोटे-से कस्बे वडनगर की गलियों से शुरू हुई। उनका जन्म भारत की आजादी के तीन वर्ष बाद 17 सितंबर, 1950 को हुआ। वे पहले प्रधान मंत्री हैं जिनका जन्म स्वतंत्र भारत में हुआ। नरेंद्र मोदी दामोदरदास मोदी तथा हीराबा मोदी की तीसरी संतान हैं। नरेंद्र मोदी एक साधारण तथा विनम्र परिवार से हैं। उनका पूरा परिवार लगभग 40/12 फीट के छोटे-से एक मंजिला मकान में रहता था।

- Narendra Modi’s formative years taught him early tough lessons as he balanced his studies, non-academic life to spare time to work at the family owned Tea Stall as the family struggled to make ends meet. His school friends remember that as a child also he was very industrious and had an affinity for debates and a curiosity to read books. Schoolmates recollect how Mr. Modi used to spend many hours reading in the local Library. As a child he was also fond of swimming.

- नरेंद्र मोदी के सृजनात्मक वर्षों ने उन्हें शुरू से ही कठिन परिश्रम करना सिखाया जिसके फलस्वरूप ही वे अपनी पढ़ाई तथा पढ़ाई के बाद के जीवन के बीच तालमेल बिठा पाए और अपने परिवार की चाय की दुकान पर काम करने के लिए समय निकाल पाए क्योंकि उनके परिवार को दो वक्त की रोटी की व्यवस्था करने के लिए संघर्ष करना पड़ता था। उनके स्कूल के दिनों के मित्र बताते हैं कि वे बचपन से ही बहुत मेहनती रहे। वे चर्चा करने के लिए तत्पर रहते थे तथा पुस्तकें पढ़ने के लिए उत्सुक रहते थे। उनके सहपाठी बताते हैं कि किस तरह मोदी स्थानीय पुस्तकालय में घटों स्वाध्याय किया करते थे। बचपन में उन्हें तैराकी का भी शौक था।

- Modi’s thoughts and dreams as a child were quite removed from how most children of his age thought. Perhaps it was the influence of Vadnagar which once used to be a vibrant center of Buddhist learning and spirituality many centuries ago. As a child also he always felt a strong urge to make a difference to society. He was highly influenced by the works of Swami Vivekananda which laid the foundation of his journey towards spiritualism and which inspired him to pursue the mission to fulfill Swamiji’s dream of making India a Jagat Guru.

- बचपन से ही नरेंद्र मोदी के विचार तथा सपने उनके हमउम्र बच्चों के विचार से बिलकुल अलग थे। शायद यह वडनगर का ही प्रभाव था क्योंकि यह सदियों पहले बौद्ध शिक्षा तथा अध्यात्म का जीवंत केंद्र था। बचपन में भी वे समाज में बदलाव लाने के प्रबल पक्षधर थे। वे स्वामी विवेकानंद के कार्यों से अत्यधिक प्रभावित थे जिससे उनके जीवन में अध्यात्म की नींव पड़ी और भारत को जगत-गुरू बनाने के स्वामी जी के सपने को पूरा करने की दिशा में कार्य करने की प्रेरणा मिली।

- At the age of 17 he left home to travel across India. For two years he travelled across the expansive landscape of India exploring various cultures. When he returned home he was a changed man with a clear aim of what he wanted to achieve in life. He went to Ahmedabad and joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). RSS is a socio-cultural organisation working towards the social and cultural regeneration of India. It was a tough routine for Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad since 1972 when he became a Pracharak for RSS. His day began at 5 am and went on till late night. Late 1970s also saw a young Narendra Modi join the movement to restore Democracy in India which was reeling under Emergency.

- 17 वर्ष की आयु में उन्होंने संपूर्ण भारत की यात्रा करने के लिए घर छोड़ दिया। दो वर्षों तक उन्होंने विभिन्न संस्कृतियों का पता लगाने के लिए भारत के विशाल भू-खंड की यात्रा की। जब वे घर लौटे तब वे एक अलग ही व्यक्ति थे जिसे यह स्पष्ट पता था कि उन्हें जीवन में कौन-सा लक्ष्य हासिल करना है। वे अहमदाबाद चले गए और राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ (आरएसएस) से जुड़ गए। राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ एक सामाजिक-सांस्कृतिक संगठन है, जो भारत में सामाजिक एवं सांस्कृतिक पुनर्जागरण का कार्य कर रहा है। 1972 में अहमदाबाद में राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ का प्रचारक बनने के बाद से नरेंद्र मोदी की कठिन दिनचर्या है। उनकी दिनचर्या प्रातः 5 बजे शुरू होती है और देर रात तक चलती है। 1970 के दशक के आखिरी दिनों ने यह भी देखा कि युवा नरेंद्र मोदी ने भारत में आपातकाल के दौरान दमित किए जा रहे प्रजातंत्र की पुनर्बहाली के लिए चलाए जा रहे आंदोलन में हिस्सा लिया।

- While continuing to shoulder different responsibilities within the Sangh during the 1980s Narendra Modi emerged as an Organizer exemplar with his organizing skills. In 1987 a different chapter began in the life of Mr. Modi when he started work as the General Secretary of the BJP in Gujarat. In his first task Mr. Modi won a victory for the BJP in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections for the first time ever. He also ensured that the BJP was a close second to the Congress in the 1990 Gujarat Assembly elections. In the 1995 Assembly elections Modi’s organizational skills ensured the BJP’s vote share increased and the party won 121 seats in the Assembly.

- 1980 के दशक में संघ में अलग-अलग जिम्मेदारियां लेते हुए नरेंद्र मोदी अपने संगठन कौशल के नमूने के साथ एक संगठक के रूप में सामने आए। 1987 में नरेंद्र मोदी के जीवन का एक अलग अध्याय तब शुरु हुआ जब उन्होंने गुजरात में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के महासचिव के रूप में कार्य करना शुरु किया। अपने पहले कार्य में  नरेंद्र मोदी ने अहमदाबाद के नगर निगम चुनावों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी को पहली बार जीत दिलाई। उन्होंने 1990 के गुजरात विधान सभा चुनावों में भी भारतीय जनता पार्टी को कांग्रेस के बाद दूसरी सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनाई। 1995 के विधान सभा चुनावों में नरेंद्र मोदी के संगठन कौशल के फलस्वरूप भारतीय जनता पार्टी का मत प्रतिशत बढ़ा और पार्टी ने 121 सीटें जीतीं।
