The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the RRB NTPC or Non-Technical Popular Categories exam to recruit for the posts of Traffic Assistant, Traffic Apprentice, Assistant Station Master, Commercial Apprentice, Goods Guard, etc. across India.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern
It is important to know the RRB NTPC exam pattern before starting a sound preparation. There are two stages in this exam: CBT-1 and CBT-2. The exam pattern is given below:
For CBT-1 Exam
There are 100 questions in this section.
One mark will be awarded for every correct answer.
Each wrong question carries ⅓ negative marking.
The time duration of the CBT-1 exam is 90 minutes.
The time for the PWD exam is 120 minutes.
For CBT-2 Exam
Candidates are shortlisted in a ratio of 1:20 times the vacancies of the category. The shortlisting is done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the CBT-1 exam.

For Mathematics
If you are at the beginner level, work on your conceptual understanding. Then increase the difficulty level of the questions.
Practice this section for at least 3 - 4 hours every day, and do not miss out on anything.
Learn the formulas, squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots, so it is easier to solve the questions.
Candidates must learn some shortcut techniques so the questions can be solved timely.
Invest more time on the topics you feel are easier, so you solve them quickly in the exam.
Practice a variety of questions, so you are familiar with the pattern of all types of questions.
Choosing the right questions is very important, so you don't end up wasting your time.
Attempt previous years' question papers and mock tests to improve your speed and accuracy.
For General Awareness
Start reading newspapers and magazines every day to stay updated with current affairs.
You can read The Hindu, The Indian Express, Times of India, etc., for general awareness.
Read articles or GK blogs and watch the news to increase your general knowledge.
Take short notes of news on historical inventions, scientific inventions, climate change, politics and governance, economy, polity, science and technology, sports, etc.
Read about Books and Authors, Countries Capitals and Currencies, Honours and Recognition, Awards, etc.
Stay in sync with national and international affairs.
Candidates must lay emphasis on Science, as basic questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Attempt 1-2 mock tests after completion of the course regularly.
Static GK is an integral part of this section; hence, at least 30 minutes should be devoted to static GK every day.
Revision is crucial to ace this section.
For General Intelligence and Reasoning
Start your preparation with easy topics such as Blood Relations, Classifications, Direction & Distance, Coding & Decoding, Ranking, etc.
This section requires conceptual clarity, so work on your logic.
Puzzles and seating arrangements require practice, so students must devote sufficient time to them. But they are quite scoring.
Inculcate the habit of drawing diagrams or figures while solving a reasoning question as it simplifies the problem.
Try to read the question with full concentration, as missing out on even a single piece of information can lead to wrong answers.
Always revise the topics you studied throughout the week on the weekend so you don't hamper your speed.
After completing all the topics, solve previous year's questions and RRB NTPC mock tests to understand the difficulty level of the questions.
