The Railway Recruitment Board Conducts the NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories examination to fulfill many vacancies on the railway board. This is one of the most massive recruitment programs that happen in India. Recruitments are made against almost 35,227 vacancies. Thus, this exam alone is the target of many aspirants in India. RRB NTPC Examination Pattern and Structure
The RRB NTPC exam pattern mainly consists of two stages of the examination. The first stage of the exam is termed the Prelims or Preliminary stage. The second stage of the exam is termed the Mains. The uniqueness of the RRB NTPC exam lies in the fact that - unlike most other exams where there is a vast syllabi change in both the stages, in this exam, the railway NTPC syllabus for both stages is the same. The difference lies in the exam pattern and nature of questions.
There are three broad sections in the exam to evaluate the candidates - these are based on the railway syllabus and are as follows:
Arithmetic Ability (Maths)
Reasoning Ability and General Science
General Awareness (G.K and Current Affairs)
The number of questions from each section usually varies, and a difference in weightage is observed among the sections in both the stages of examination. Now let us have a brief overview of the number of questions and marks in each exam stage:
The first stage of CBT 1 stage of RRB NTPC exam:
In each exam stage (CBT 1 and CBT 2), candidates are given 90 minutes to complete the exam.
As already discussed, the RRB NTPC syllabus for both stages of the exam is the same, and it is only a difference in the exam pattern and type of questions. One hundred questions are asked on the CBT stage 1 exam of RRB NTPC, whereas 120 questions are asked in the CBT stage 2 exam. In both stages, the type of questions asked is mostly either objective type or multiple-choice questions (MCQ) types.
