SSC GD Constable Syllabus 2023
The SSC GD syllabus 2023 consists of following sections/Topics which are detailed below:
English/Hindi Language:
In this section, Ability of candidates in understanding English/Hindi Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. and writing ability shall be tested.
General Intelligence and Reasoning:
Analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns will be tested through questions principally of non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.
Elementary Mathematics:
This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
General Knowledge and General Awareness:
Questions in this component shall be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of environment around him. Questions shall also be designed in such a way that would test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated & Knowledgeable person. The test shall also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries, especially events pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, and scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

- The vacancies are Tentative. Any change in the number of vacancies will be intimated through the website of the Commission.
- 10% vacancies are earmarked for Ex-servicemen (ESM). If suitable ESM candidates are not available, vacancies reserved for ESM will be filled by non-ESM candidates of respective categories
- As the vacancies in CAPFs have been earmarked States/ UT-wise, candidates are required to submit Domicile/ Permanent Residential Certificate of the State/ UT indicated by them in the online Application Form at the time of DME/ Documents Verification failing which his/her candidature will be cancelled forthwith and the candidate will not be allowed to appear in the Detailed Medical Examination. If a candidate produces Domicile/ Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by a State other than the State mentioned in his/ her application, he/ she shall not be allowed to change the State at the time of Document Verification and his/her candidature shall be cancelled straightaway. Therefore Candidates should fill the Application Form very carefully.
- Candidates selected for appointment are liable to serve anywhere in India.
- The appointment of candidates after selection is subject to availability of seats in training facilities of various CAPFs. As such, candidates may be appointed in phases in accordance with availability of training space. The Joining and in-service issues, seniority, training, etc will be regulated in accordance with the rules and regulations of various Organizations.
Online Application Fee:
The Fee payable for Online Application is Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only).

- Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.
- Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or through cash in SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
- Online fee can be paid by the candidates up to . However, candidates who wish to make the cash payment through Challan of SBI, may make the payment in cash at the Branches of SBI within the working hours of the bank up to provided the Challan has been generated by them before
- Candidates who are not exempted from fee payment must ensure that their fee has been deposited with SSC. If the fee is not received by SSC, status of Application Form is shown as ‘Incomplete’ and this information is printed on the top of the Application Form printout. Further, status of fee payment can be verified at the ‘Payment Status” link provided in the candidate’s login screen. Such applications which remain incomplete due to non-receipt of fee will be SUMMARILY REJECTED and no request for consideration of such applications and fee payment after the period specified in the Notice of Examination shall be entertained.
- Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor will it be adjusted against any other examination or selection.
SSC GD Constable Job Profile 2023
The major responsibility of SSC GD Constable is the safety and security of the country and its citizens.
Let’s discuss about the Force wise Job Profile of SSC GD Constable employees:
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
• Major responsibility includes providing safety & security to PSUs and other important government infrastructure projects, industrial units etc.
• Also, in most cases, CISF Constables are made in-charge for security at all commercial airports throughout India.
• The Special Security Group (SSG) is responsible for providing security to the members nominated by the Home Ministry of India.
Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB)
The responsibilities of SSB are mentioned below:
• To continuously monitor and prevent any kind of cross-border terrorism, and other illegal encroachments/activities.
• Responsible for protecting Borders such as Indo – Nepal, and Indo – Bhutan borders.
Border Security Force (BSF)
The nature of duties of a BSF personnel are mentioned below:
• Responsible for protecting Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh Border.
• Need to perform Anti-infiltration duties.
• To prevent any unauthorized entry and exit from the territory of India.
• Responsible for preventing illegal activities such as smuggling etc. across the Border.
• Also, BSF personnel are required to gather trans-border intelligence.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
The nature of duties of a ITBP personnel includes:
• Protecting the border area between India & China (from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh) region.
• To check illegal immigration and trans-border smuggling.
• To restore and maintain peace, law and order in the area of disturbance.
• Monitoring the northern area borders, detection & prevention of any kind of border violations.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
• It is responsible for looking after the internal security matters of India and it also operates in foreign nations as a part of Indian Peace Keeping.
• Their responsibility varies from VIP security to election duties, handling of counter-Naxal operations etc.
Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles
It works under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) & offers services such as,
• In-charge of all activities/tasks in the absence of Assistant Sub-Inspector and Sub-Inspector.
• They have the right to investigate a case if the SI asks them to do so.
• They might be needed to patrol the urban areas as per requirement.

- SSC GD Constable Nationality:
- The candidate must be either:
- A Citizen of India,
- Applications for SSC GD 2023 for Constable vacancies in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSF, SSB, NIA, and riflemen are only open to those who meet the commission's specified qualifying requirements. The following lists the requirements for age, education, and other factors:
- SSC General Education Requirements (as of January 1, 2023)
- Applicants for the positions of GD Constable (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSF, SSB, NIA, and riflemen) must have completed their 10th class education or its equivalent from an accredited board.
SSC GD age limit:-
18-23 years as on 01-08-2023. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-08-2000 and later than 01-08-2005 in normal course. However, after relaxation of three (03) years in upper age.
